Sgt. Stephen C. High

SGT Stephen C. High 45, of Spartanburg, SC, died April 6, 2005. 

He was killed along with 17 others when the CH-47 (Chinook) helicopter he was aboard crashed 80 miles southwest of Kabul (Ghanzi, Afghanistan).  High was assigned to the 228th Signal Brigade, South Carolina Army National Guard, Spartanburg, SC.  High had been traveling all over the country trying to get others up to speed on the use of new Army radios. 

Prior to joining the Army National Guard, High served 15 years in the Navy after graduating from Spartanburg High School.  He was a meat cutter at the Fresh Market restaurant and loved golf and professional wrestling.
