Staff Sgt. Esau G. Patterson, Jr.

Army SSG Esau Patterson, 25, of Ridgeland, SC, died on April 29, 2004.

He was killed when a vehicle approached his unit and the driver detonated a bomb, in Baghdad, Iraq.  Patterson was killed along with seven others, who remained in Iraq after their original tour was extended for six months.   He was assigned to 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany. 

Patterson was a graduate of Jasper County High School, where he participated in the ROTC for four years.
